Descripción
Narrow-leaf Anacharis (Egeria najas) is a hardy, fast-growing stem plant native to South America. It develops flexible stems covered with narrow, deep-green leaves arranged in whorls, forming dense groups that give the aquarium a natural appearance.
During the light period, it absorbs nutrients and releases oxygen, making it particularly useful in newly established aquariums or tanks with elevated nutrient levels. Its dense foliage also provides shelter for fry, shrimp and other small aquarium inhabitants.
It can be grown either planted in the substrate or left floating and adapts to a wide range of aquarium conditions. Under medium to high lighting it develops more compact and vigorous growth. Because of its rapid growth, regular trimming is recommended to prevent it from reaching the surface and shading other plants.
